“This is the Amazon of healthcare.”
“The folks at SmartMED are so kind and so efficient.”
“The absolute best urgent care experience I’ve ever had.”
“The BEST thing to happen to our community.”
“I’d much rather wait in my car, than in a crowded doctor’s office.”
“I’ve never had a more convenient experience while getting care for my daughter and myself.”
That’s just what a few of the more than 7,000 patients SmartMED has seen in the past year are saying about this drive thru medical service just off Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell. SmartMED founder Stacy Lathorp says, “When you’re sick and you need to see a doctor, the last thing you want to do is waste time trying to get an appointment, sit in a waiting room or wait on test results.” SmartMED makes things so much easier by providing patients with convenient, thorough and compassionate care in the comfort of their own cars. The average medical visit is less than 10 minutes. No appointment is needed! Simply drive to be seen.
Whether it’s a Covid, strep or flu test that’s needed, possible pink eye or an ear ache, SmartMED is there to see you in our drive-thru clinic, answer your questions, treat you and get you back on the road to home and feeling better just as fast as we can. Many test results are available in 15 minutes. We also take many insurance plans and are currently in-Network with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Humana, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, Medicaid (Amerigroup and Caresource). We advise you to check with your insurance carrier, directly, to understand your specific benefits.
SmartMED was founded by Dr. Luke Lathrop, Medical Director and his wife Stacy Lathrop. Dr. Lathrop completed his undergraduate studies and medical school at St. Louis University. This was followed by residency training at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and has been practicing for over 17 years. Stacy worked at Cox Automotive for 17 years but left in 2021 to open and operate SmartMED. The pandemic underscored the inefficiencies in healthcare. In response, they developed a new drive-thru medical model with the goal of providing safe, convenient, thorough, and prompt medical care for all. SmartMED Drive-Thru launched in September of 2022 and has treated thousands of patients of all ages.
There are also plans to expand to East Cobb as well.

To make dependable covid testing more available to their community, Dr. Lathrop and his wife, Stacy Lathrop, started a covid testing business in 2021 and saw over 20,000 patients in their first year at their Roswell location.
In response to the strain placed on the US healthcare system by the global pandemic, the Lathrop’s founded SmartMED Drive Thru in 2022. This was the first drive thru with urgent care services in the country. As the Chief Medical Officer, he is focused on providing the utmost in efficient care, while never sacrificing quality. Through his experience in Emergency Medicine, he continually looks for ways to innovate and improve the patient experience.
